Generation 3

Jethro Shaw born in 1711, died 3/6/1770, married Ruth Robinson of Youlgreave who was born about 1717 (probably in Winster) and died on 16/3/1798 aged 81. The marriage was on 31/12/1734 at St Helen's in Darley Dale and they had many children including:

  Silence, baptised 30/10/1735 in Darley Dale, died August 1762, married John Bond of Okerside on 21/2/1757  Family

  Elizabeth, baptised 24/4/1738 in Darley Dale, died 1780, married John Holmes of Darley on 7/5/1759 (see below)

  John, baptised 22/2/1740 (or 1741) in Darley Dale, died June 1741 or 1742

  John, baptised 15/6/1743 in Darley Dale, died 21/2/1746

  Hannah, baptised 30/10/1745 in Darley Dale, married John Oates (see below)

  Jethro, baptised 3/6/1748 in Darley Dale, died February 1802, married Sarah Wall (1757-1819) on 27/6/1779

  James, baptised 28/5/1751 in Darley Dale, died 18/1/1837, married Hannah Roper on 4/11/1773  Family

  Ann, baptised 12/9/1753 in Darley Dale, died March 1789, married Isaac Hoades, a miner on 29/8/1771

  Mary, born 1755 in Okerside, died 28/4/1809 in Birchover, married Daniel Prime b. 1750 in Youlgreave on 24/1/1777

  George, baptised 1757 in Darley Dale, died 6/12/1827, married Alice Marsden of Cross Green Family

  Jane, baptised 23/9/1759 in Darley Dale, died 1787, married John Fletcher of Wensley on 29/8/1775 Family

  Thomas, baptised 26/11/1761 in Darley Dale, died 11/11/1770 aged 9

Elizabeth Shaw remarried to John Allen on 7/6/1780.

James Shaw was baptised at St Helen's in Darley the day after he was born.

Hannah Roper was the daughter of Joshua Roper and Sarah Booth of Bolehill. She was born on 24/7/1752 in Cromford, baptised on 15/8/1753 in Wirksworth and died 16/12/1817 in Bolehill. Her father was buried on 23/7/1795 and her mother on 24/5/1756, both in Wirksworth. It seems that her father married three times, his second wife was Elizabeth Higton and the third Elizabeth Thomas.

Sarah Wall was the daughter of Anthony Wall of Hackney Lane, Darley.

Hannah Shaw remarried to George Ward of Matlock.

Daniel Prime of Birchill was a wealthy horse dealer and yeoman who was born in Stanton, He and Mary Shaw had a daughter Jane (b. 1777) in Darley and four grandsons with the surname Walesby. Mary was buried in Winster on 1/5/1809.

Mary (born 1755) may be an error.

Ann Shaw and Isaac Hoades had a daughter called Elizabeth b. about 1774 in Bolehill. Ann probably d. in 1789 in Wirksworth and was buried at St Mary the Virgin. Elizabeth m. George Land in Wirksworth in 1789.
