George Henry Shaw
and Emma Bingham
George Henry Shaw born in 1856 in Wensley, died in 1940, married
Emma Bingham on 11th January 1875 at St Mary's Church, South Darley. His parents were John Shaw and Mary Dakin.
He was a general labourer, later coal miner/hewer and it seems he moved
from agricultural Darley to industrial Ashover in 1876-77 to work in the
coal industry.
George Henry and Emma had these children:

William, born 1877 in Handley
George, born 1880 in Shirland
Elizabeth, born 1882 in Stretton, married
George Winson of Ashover
John, born 6th October 1884 in Stretton, died
21st February 1956, in Clay Cross, married Sarah Alice Spencer
Esther, born 1885 in Stretton, married ??
Bingham
Mary A R, born 1887 in Handley, died 1932,
married John G Holmes in 1911 in Chesterfield
Hannah, born 1890 in Handley
Edwin, born 1894 in Ashover
Sarah J, born 1897 in Ashover
After Emma died George Henry married again to Fanny Swift Hopkinson in
1920 a few weeks before his 64th birthday. Fanny Swift was born on
18th Feb 1882 in Ashover and died in 1970 in Chesterfield, her
parents were Thomas Hopkinson, a farmer, and Martha Swift. In 1901
she was a servant in the household of Alexander Todd a cabinet
maker. George Henry and Fanny Swift had one child.
Eric, born 1920, died 2001, both in Milltown, Ashover,
he did
not marry.
Emma Shaw (née Bingham) was born in 1856 in
Woolley. She had a younger brother George, born in 1860.
John was a coal miner and was buried in Stretton Cemetery, as
was his
wife Sarah who was born in 1883 in North Wingfield and died in 1967. They
married in Ashover on 8th June 1908 and had the following children:
Cyril, Emma, James, John, Mary (1905), George (1908) and Joseph (1910).

William was a railway engine driver and lived in Bolsover.
George was a gritstone quarry worker.
Eric worked for the Gas Board.
