St. Helen's Church,
Darley Dale, Derbyshire
This ancient church featured in the
lives of many of the people referred to on this site. Its origins
are thought to date back
to about 900AD, with significant changes in the 12th and 14th centuries
and restoration in 1877.
Memorial inscriptions inside the
church and in the churchyard include the names: Shaw, Shore, Dakeyne,
Wagstaff, Marsden and Milward.




Note the stone steps outside the
southern entrance built to assist horse and
carriage riders. They still exist !
