St. Helen's Church, Darley Dale, Derbyshire

This ancient church featured in the lives of many of the people referred to on this site. Its origins are thought to date back to about 900AD, with significant changes in the 12th and 14th centuries and restoration in 1877.

Memorial inscriptions inside the church and in the churchyard include the names: Shaw, Shore, Dakeyne, Wagstaff, Marsden and Milward.

Note the stone steps outside the southern entrance built to assist horse and carriage riders. They still exist !
